| Frostfell returns to Norrath! |
|
Frostfell returns to Norrath!
Twas' the day before Frostfell and all through the servers,
all adventurers are stirring, creating a fervor!
Decorations are hung 'round the cities with care
even garments added for adventurers to wear.
Wardrobes had been added to all starting cities,
for tradeskilling players to whip up new pretties.
To enter that zone opens such possibility,
to create food stuffs, house items and other utility!
Even Neriak has seen some festive addition,
their dark hearts though, have changed that tradition.
Queen Christanos has deemed the holiday just,
that Frostfell be observed, no matter the disgust.
In Overlord's Freeport, the trimmings have returned,
And for fun the snowmen are close to be burned!
A creature of candy is crawling from court,
with four huge candy-legs to seek adventurers for sport!
In Qeynos the holiday has returned once again
with many wreathed doors and candy cane lanes!
The claymore has even seen festive dressing,
since Queen Antonia has given full blessing!
The city of Gorowyn has seen an inclusion,
of Frostfell decorations causing quite a confusion.
The Sarnak aren't used to such frivolous attire,
being serious-minded with military desire.
Frostfell is coming. For that, there's no doubt.
No starting city on Norrath shall go without!
But it's not here forever, enjoy while it's here
Frostfell will be 'round until the end of this year.

Feast of Winter Veil
Type: Holiday Event
Date: December - January
Location: Most Major Cities
he later seasons of Azeroth are marked as a time of change in many cultures. The Dwarves and the Tauren especially look to a legend of the coming Winter Veil - the blanketing of the land in snow, thus heralding a time of renewal - as a time for celebration.
The term "Winter Veil" is said to stem from a supernatural being referred in many cultures to as Greatfather Winter. As he would walk the land late in the seasons, winter itself would be his billowing cloak. In his wake was the blanketing of the land in snow, and thus it is said that Greatfather Winter would cast his wintry veil over the land. Though parts of Azeroth may lie in snow, it gives the land time for rebirth and renewal.
The idea of feasting during this time of year is one that traces its origins to the legend itself. As Greatfather Winter walked Azeroth, it is said he would provide a bounty for those who welcomed his presence. As such, the idea of feasting during the winter veil would bring together communities as they shared whatever they had. Typically, a single day of merriment and feasting welcomed the change, all in anticipation of the land's renewal.
Other cultures have begun to recognize the Feast of Winter Veil as a time of great celebration, though not in the same traditions as the legend bases it in. Customs, often unrelated to anything other than a chance for celebration and gift exchange, have made their way into modern observation of the season. Even the image of Greatfather Winter is sometimes used, but more as a harbringer of commercial exploit rather than as a supernatural titan.

As autumn arrives and the climate starts to cool, many of the superpowered denizens and ordinary citizens remember that Halloween is coming, a time of festivity and celebration. While the famous Heroes are no strangers to wearing fantastic costumes, this year the emphasis is on costumes of an entirely different sort: the various types of citizens, law enforcement organizations and villain groups that many heroes are intimately familiar with.
For example, one may be able to dress up as a Coralax Minion, a Paragon Protector or even a Vahzilok Eidolon. Heroes can collect these Classical Costumes (and wear them) for Trick or Treating throughout the city. New badges will be available for those who collect the most Classical Costumes. Not to be outdone by the Heroes of Paragon City, Villains of the Rogue Isles may take part in the festivities as well, where Trick or Treating and Classical Costume collection has been virtually mandated by Lord Recluse.
The fun begins today, October 22nd, and continues through Sunday, November 4th, 2007 at 11:59pm EST.
